Psychology

Our Registered Psychologist (PhD) at Restorative Sports Therapy is available to offer counselling services to adults, youth, couples, and families. Available appointments are based on a single-session model of therapy.

Differences between traditional and single-session psychology/therapy services:

Both single-session therapy and traditional (ongoing) therapy have their strengths and are suited to different contexts and client needs. Traditional therapy often involves attending multiple appointments that are scheduled at regular intervals. The goals of traditional therapy can be varied, and this approach can support ongoing mental health intervention and maintenance, long-term personal development, and broader exploration of aspects of your life across your multiple meetings together.

When you engage in single-session work, you determine if and how often our sessions are scheduled, depending on your unique circumstances. Each session focuses on addressing the specific issue or concern you would most like to speak about, on that day. At the beginning of each session, we collaborate to identify a goal for our session together and then spend our time together in therapeutic conversation to work towards achieving it. Without the assumption that you will schedule more time together, we don’t leave anything on the table for “next time”.

Please note that a blended, flexible approach that combines elements of both traditional and single-session work is available at Restorative Sports Therapy. While each single-session therapeutic conversation is self-contained, you are welcome to return to continue the therapeutic conversation (or begin a new one), if and as it works for you to do so.
