Camp Move Your Mood in Okotoks

The Program

Welcome to the most anticipated camp of the summer - Camp Move Your Mood in Okotoks, where we bridge the mind-body connection through finding strength in movement. This is unlike any other camp your child has been to - each week has been designed by physiotherapists, teachers, yoga instructors and mindfulness coaches to create a curriculum centered around movement and emotional intelligence. At the completion of this camp your child will gain an understanding of how important movement is and the confidence to transfer both the physical and emotional attributes learned into any movement opportunity or sports arena.

Our team is excited to welcome you to our fourth annual Camp Move Your Mood. We are looking forward to a safe and fun week that instills confidence in your child that creates wonderful memories and connections. Each camp week will be filled with new experiences, movement, self – exploration, growth and transformation.  Our activities for kids ages 5-11 feature innovative teaching methods, small classes, and incredible movement mentors!  Through an innovative approach that combines multi-sport practices with mindfulness-based activities, this camp is designed to offer kids the chance to develop and gain movement awareness through learning fundamental movement patterns ( ie: hinge, squat, crawl, roll) , the ABC’s (agility, balance, coordination and speed) of movement and self exploration.  Given the opportunity to learn a wide range of physical skills, children acquire the basic building blocks for the competence, confidence, and motivation, to try many physical activities and sports. Fundamental movement skills are very important to a child’s physical development, not to mention in the best space ever - OUTDOORS! When confident and competent in these skills, children can develop sport-specific and complex movement skills that will increase their chance of enjoying a long life of physical activity and wellness.

Campers will have fun learning the value of individual pursuits, teamwork, and sportsmanship through core movements like running, jumping, kicking, throwing, tumbling and play based activities. In addition, attendees will get the chance to try their hand at a variety of specialty mindfulness-based activities that include mindful minutes, reflection, discussion, arts & crafts, journaling, nature walks and more.

Using intentional movement as the lens through which we explore new themes each week, Camp move your mood is based on children getting the opportunity to gain a strong movement foundation and conversation about the importance of daily movement.  This year our camp theme is based on the 4 Agreements. The 4 agreements outlines a code of conduct ancient Toltec wisdom that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. They are what was traditionally and still is to this day needed for communities to survive. Campers will get a chance to dive deep into the 4 agreements which are: Be impeccable with your word, Do not take anything personally, Don’t make assumptions and Always do your best. Their movement literacy program will look at each agreement l and how those characteristics transfer into their daily movements of running, crawling, jumping, tumbling and climbing, team comradery and sportsmanship. Campers will have the opportunity to build both physical literacy as well as emotional stability, strength, and resiliency.

Camp Move Your Mood offers the essential ingredients that EVERY child needs to build resiliency and to thrive! Children learn how to connect with their minds, bodies and hearts, through physical activity, time in nature, play, positive social interactions and age-appropriate mindfulness activities. Keeping children physically active can be a challenge, but this camp provides ample opportunities for each child to learn new skills, to challenge themselves, to believe in themselves and to reach higher. I can’t recommend this camp enough!

Summer Camp Sessions

CMYM (Ages 5-11) July 15-19th

Teachings: Be impeccable with your word.
Being impeccable with your word means to speak with honesty and kindness- it’s about saying things that are true and not using your words to hurt yourself or others. When you speak honestly people trust you and you feel good about yourself. Choosing to be honest and kind shows that you are responsible and care about how your words affect others. This week will encourage kids to communicate in a way that is honest and considerate, fostering positive and respectful interaction with others.

Dates: July 15-19th, 2024 8:30am-4:00pm
Cost: $335+GST for one week of camp. Please call to book packages.

CMYM (Ages 5-11) July 22-26th

Teachings: Don’t take anything personal. Sometimes people have different moods and problems they are dealing with. Sometimes they might say something unkind or act in a certain way, but it often more about their own feelings and not about you. Even when some people say unkind things you can stand strong and know that those words don’t define who you are! Kids can learn to separate others actions and words from their own self-worth and feelings. This helps them develop a healthier more resilient approach to social interactions and their own emotional responses.

Dates: July 22-26th, 2024 8:30am-4:00pm
Cost: $335+GST for one week of camp. Please call to book packages.

CMYM (Ages 5-11) July 29-Aug 2nd

Teachings: Don’t make assumptions. Making an assumption is like guessing and what someone else is thinking or feeling without really knowing the truth. It’s when we believe something is true without having all the facts. When we make assumptions we often misunderstand a situation or person - this can lead to confusion, hurt feelings, or arguments. This week kids will come to understand the importance of gathering information and effective communication. before forming beliefs or opinions about others. Less misunderstanding and more empathy for the win!

Dates: July 29-Aug 2nd, 2024 8:30am-4:00pm
Cost: $335+GST for one week of camp. Please call to book packages.

CMYM (Ages 5-11) Aug 12-16th

Teachings: Always do your best. Always do your best means giving your maximum effort and trying your hardest in everything you do. It’s like putting your heart into your actions and doing things with enthusiasm. Whether it’s schoolwork, playing with friends, or trying new activities, always do your best means giving it your all. This week campers learn it is not about being perfect, but giving your personal best effort and feeling proud of what you accomplish. Let’s learn, grow, and enjoy the journey of becoming the best version of ourselves!

Dates: Aug 12-16th, 2024 8:30am-4:00pm
Cost: $335+GST for one week of camp. Please call to book packages.

"My 10 year old son just finished week one of the Move Your Mood Camp. To say he loved it would be an understatement. After the first day he asked to be signed up for week two! The people at Restorative and Orenda are amazing. Them working together at a kids camp was such a great combination, I highly recommend!" ~D.C

"My 8 year old daughter just finished one week of summer Camp Move Your Mood at Restorative Sports Therapy. As a parent, to find a camp that has extremely thoughtful programming, carried out by educated staff, in an environment with fantastic indoor and outdoor activities, this camp is a dream (I'd pay for it's value 10x over). As a child, my daughter has completely found her summer place away from home, she loved every day of the week, I asked her to think of three words to describe it; "amazing, exciting, and fun". We are looking forward to a second week of CMYM (as well as Orenda programs during the school year). Thank you Gina and staff for setting the bar high, and nailing it." ~K.M

"Thank you so much for providing such an incredible experience for my son this past week! He came home each day sharing parts of his day with us and telling us how much he loved the camp. He cried on the last day because he couldn’t go back to camp next week lol! And has already asked to go back next summer. He’s going to be so excited to come back in August! As a parent it means the world to me that he spent time tapping into not only his physical well-being but also his emotional and mental well-being. You have created such an amazing program that is going to benefit these kids for their whole lives! Thank you!!!" ~D.M
